(More customer reviews)The is a great straight razor, especially if its your first one. As a novice, I tried to educate myself as much as possible before buying and I took a chance buying this razor. I was going to go Dovo, but I read that Fromm produced a razor that is just as good, so I thought I would try it. I was not disappointed. It took a bit more than a "light" honing to put a shaving edge on it, but after stropping with a horsehide, it produced a beautiful edge that gives a great shave. I cut myself once, but just barely; otherwise, I felt like I could actually get closer than with my old disposable razor. I also love the freedom of movement to sculpt and shape around my beard. One word of caution: allow yourself plenty of time to shave. This is not meant for a rushed shave, but rather for a nice, slow therapeutic cleansing of the facial hair. Kind of the same feeling you get after carefully manicuring your lawn. Also, use a 1000/6000 honing stone or better for honing the edge.
