I ended up thinking that they were highly similar and both did a much better job than my pumice stone at leaving my feet feeling completely smooth and soft. (While the pumice stone is easier to use in the shower and works faster, I find that my feet always have uneven dead skin hanging off it afterwards.) I would recommend the Dr. Scholl's equally to the Ped Egg if they were the same price; at the moment, Amazon seems to be selling the Dr. Scholl's for slightly cheaper. However, I would warn that the Dr. Scholl's foot file has larger openings where the skin filings could fall out and dirty your floor with dead skin.
