1) limited efficacy disinfectant
2) general purpose (or broad spectrum) disinfectant
3) hospital grade disinfectant.
Because it is not.
Instead, it is only a product that "Protects, cleans, lubricates, deodorizes, and conditions your clipper blades, manicure implements and many other cuttin tools against HIV-1 (AIDS Virus)" but does not claim to kill bacteria.
It is, however, approved by the EPA as a virucide to kill the HIV virus, but not anything else.
The label says it is "anti-bacterial," but if the EPA approved it as one of the three categories of disinfectant, the product label would specify which bacteria it would reliably kill.
So, while I found the disease-preventing information to be somewhat "confusing" (it took a lot of studying the EPA/FDA/OSHA/CDC rules and regulations to figure all this out), this stuff does a pretty good job of actually cleaning the hair out of the clipper blades and keeping things lubricated. But then, so does a light grade mineral oil, which is a lot cheaper. And the HIV virus is rather fragile, and just about anything will zap it.
So, since I'm a licensed barber, and by law we have to disinfect our clipper blades between customers, and since this product doesn't claim to do that, I'll have to use another product that will.
